Home Plans for Better Living
Building methods and materials are evolving to keep pace with increased consumer demand for quality, energy efficient homes. REHAU and Amvic, a CHBC member, have teamed up with Design Basics Inc., one of the nation's largest home plan design services, to provide builders with a variety of home plans featuring their integrated, leading-edge building solutions.
These designs are part of Design Basics' recently released Her Home Value Engineered Home Plans series. Based on women's preferences for home design, this selection of 20 new home blueprints is available in two elevations each for a total of 40 plans. At no additional charge, builders can select the optimized plan versions that incorporate Amvic insulated concrete walls and REHAU construction products, including radiant heating, vinyl window and door designs, PEX plumbing, residential fire protection and PVC gutters.
According to Paul Foresman, director of new business development for Design Basics, "Our company is committed to fulfilling the growing demand for energy efficient, stronger, safer and environmentally friendly homes. We partnered with REAHU and Amvic because their carefully integrated product package and focus on 'whole building' design offer an excellent, affordable approach to reaching that goal."
Amvic insulated concrete forms (ICFs) utilize expanded polystyrene foam to increase the energy efficiency of the building envelope. Lightweight and easy to cut and shape, ICFs allow an experienced crew to complete the foundation and/or walls in a matter of days. The integration of REHAU window and door designs and mechanical systems results in unparalleled comfort and energy efficiency. Pricing and ordering are simplified as Amvic products are specified into the blueprints and REHAU products are available directly from the supplier.
The new Her Home Value Engineered Home Plans are so named because they also meet women's requirements for home design, construction and products. "Research has shown that women are especially conscious of energy efficiency and protecting the natural environment for future generations," said Foresman. "The new plans allow builders to be on top of the latest trends and informed about how women look at home design." For example, the rear entry area features a new drop zone intended for mail, keys, cell phone chargers and more. Family members and guests no longer have to walk through a messy laundry room to enter the house from the garage.
In addition, a value-engineering focus utilizes readily available construction materials and reduces waste, allowing builders to provide maximum value to consumers. For example, structural members in these plans are minimized and the family room features a dimension of 15 feet to accommodate industry standard 15-foot carpet rolls.
