Mexico's Housing Market: Cross Border Investment & Business Opportunities
(Thursday, January 12, 2006, 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Orange County Convention Center W300 Lecture Hall)
Hear first hand from Carlos Gutierrez, Mexico’s Commissioner of Housing and other distinguished experts from Mexico’s homebuilding sector about the burgeoning housing market and growing opportunities to do business with our closest neighbor and 2nd largest trading partner. In addition to strong demand, Mexico’s economy is increasingly prepared to support the need for more and better housing. Mexico is rated investment grade, and lower interest rates translate into incentives for corporate investment and consumer spending.
At the same time, Mexico’s capital markets are quietly broadening the housing sector’s sources of capital. Local pension funds and foreign institutional investors are helping to develop a well functioning and liquid mortgage-backed securities market. Learn more about the market, how it is evolving to meet growing demand, and identify opportunities for building, trade, and investment in Mexico. Quad-Lock Building Systems LEED Accredited Professional on Staff
Hubert Max Kustermann, CEO of Quad-Lock Building Systems Ltd. is pleased to announce Rhyno Stinchfield as being promoted to Director of North American Sales. “Rhyno has been the visionary developing Quad-Lock’s distribution network for the U.S.; because of the success of this network, we’d like to roll out this plan all across North America — the logical first step was to promote Rhyno” says Hubert Max.
In explaining his success, Rhyno states “Our efforts of focusing on building material suppliers as our regional partners are starting to pay dividends. We are able to educate them through collective and individualized marketing, training and technical support programs. This in turn allows them to support their contractor and developer customers at the jobsite level. In addition, our Regional Sales Managers do a terrific job managing this network with regular face-to-face meetings and assistance with their local sales and marketing efforts.”
Hubert Max adds “As I focus more on corporate development and a very aggressive growth strategy I am confident in Rhyno’s abilities to create a consistent sales management strategy for the continent.
“It’s a fun time to be at Quad-Lock” says Rhyno Stinchfield “and a fascinating time for the ICF industry. We aren’t a burgeoning technology any more; we’re becoming a mainstream building solution. Working with the professionals at Quad-Lock is exciting, we’ve developed a real focus on how to deliver our building system to the marketplace and the marketplace is responding.”

LOGIX® Launch of Patent Pending Pilaster Form for High Wall Builds
LOGIX™ Insulated Concrete Forms has announced the launch of another new product that the company expects will enable tall walls to be built more quickly and easily for commercial and institutional construction. The patent pending LOGIX® Pilaster Form is a specialty form unit that allows builders to quickly and simply create pilasters in the insulated concrete wall. This reduces the costs of constructing high walls and eliminates the need to introduce conventional concrete forms into the project, simplifying the process for the builder.
“We have developed this product over the past year and are currently using it on our new 122,000 square foot LOGIX production facility in Edmonton,” says Todd McCarthy, one of the LOGIX ownership team. “This product has allowed us to use our 6 ¼ inch form units to construct the 30 foot walls for our factory. Normally these high walls would have required concrete pilasters to be formed traditionally, or have required a red iron frame to help support the loads. We have saved significantly using this form and I expect our customers will enjoy the same results.”

NAHB Launches Effort to Coordinate Building Material Donations
In response to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, NAHB received numerous offers from members who wanted to donate materials or products to help victims in the Gulf Coast.
Now that efforts are directed at rebuilding the devastated areas, members are encouraged to join NAHB’s industry-wide effort to make their donations through Gifts In Kind International Gifts.
In Kind’s primary mission is serving as the donation conduit between for-profit companies and nonprofit organizations. Specifically, the charity works with companies to donate inventory, which is then matched to a network of 200,000+ registered charities worldwide.
Not only will members gain positive recognition from the donation, but they could earn a tax deduction of up to twice the value of the merchandise donated. Several NAHB members, including Sears and Maytag, already are working with Gifts in Kind. However the charity can accept product donations both large and small.
To donate, complete Gifts In Kind’s Product Donation Agreement and fax to Doyle Delph 877/798-3192. For more information contact Kym Kilbourne, 800/368-5242, x8447.
