  Are you a "Green Builder?"
National Green Building Conference - March 11- 14, 2006 in Albuquerque, NM

Tierra Concrete Homes Award Winning Home

NAHB's increasingly popular National Green Building Conference is right around the corner, and if you haven't signed up to attend, now's the time. The event takes place March 11-14 in Albuquerque, NM.

Starting with a Certified Graduate Builder (CGB)Designation course on the first day,
Green Building for Building Professionals, a new course that gives builders the knowledge to incorporate green building principles in their operations, as well as how to provide value to their customers.

This two-day course will be offered for the first time on March 11-12 in Albuquerque, N.M. just prior to the 2006 NAHB National Green Building Conference.

The course offers in-depth discussions on strategies for incorporating green building principles into homes — without driving up the cost of construction. It also will include information on how builders can provide buyers with lower energy and maintenance costs, improved indoor air quality and long-term value.

The course will be followed by the Green Building Home & Technology Tours and the Green Building Awards Reception & Dinner. The last two days are reserved for the keynote address, education sessions and new product exhibits. See full tour schedule.

One of the education sessions will include a Concrete Home Building Council Member panel, "Concrete Thinking for Sustainable Housing". The focus of this presentation will be on manufacturing improvements, quality and sustainability of residential construction, and contributing to a better environment.

Discussion will take place on “the whole package”, combining the right elements with the right materials to maximize the ‘Green’ benefit for a concrete home. Actual case studies that offer real-world illustrations of the sustainability of concrete and cement will be shown. The panel consists of David Shepherd, AIA, Director, Sustainable Development, Portland Cement Association, Patrick Murphy, President, American Polysteel, and Judy Fosdick, President, Tierra Concrete Homes.

Other presenters include Harry Green, president of the International Code Council, along with Albuquerque Mayor Martin J. Chavez. Also, over 30 experts in new technologies, energy efficiency, sustainable products and innovative design will be giving presentations.

Please plan to stop by the Concrete Home Building Council Booth #207. For more information visit: http://www.nahb.org/greenbuilding. To register for the conference, please e-mail registrar@nahb.com. Other inquiries may be directed to Calli Barker Schmidt, x8132.  [ return to top ]
