Concrete Council Supports IBHS
NAHB Concrete Home Building Council (CHBC), and it's members have made an exciting decision at NAHB Fall Board to partner with the Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) on an education program that IBHS is currently developing for building inspectors on residential construction "best practices".
The program is going to include an overview video showing various "points of importance" for cement-based building technologies in support of the newly adopted building codes throughout the Gulf Region. This is a huge opportunity for our industry, and the CHBC, to support the education of building inspectors in the rebuilding effort.
This program will be channeled through the CHBC membership to provide all of our industry member partners the opportunity to participate. While the video and PowerPoint portion of the IBHS program will only "scratch the surface" on our many technologies, IBHS plans to incorporate an online component linked to the CHBC website at: www.nahb.org/concrete, to provide additional "best practices".
Mike Weber, President of CHBC, states, "I'm pleased we have been provided the opportunity to participate in this program, and view this as one of the many reasons for forming the NAHB Concrete Home Building Council. We will continue to provide more information on the program as it progresses."
Initially the 10 National Association members of CHBC will work with IBHS to bring all the aspects of the national groups to this program. The current 10 National members are: Portland Cement Association, Concrete Foundaitons Association, National Concrete Masonry Association, Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute, Insulating Concrete Forms Association, Tile Roofing Institute, Autoclave Aerated Concrete Products Association, Precast Concrete Institute, Post-Tensioning Institute, and the Brick Industry Assocation.
