CFA Convention: Stepping Up Education and Technology

MT. VERNON, IOWA (May 15, 2007) The Concrete Foundations Association (CFA) – an international association dedicated to improving the quality and acceptance of cast-in-place concrete foundations – will gather for their annual convention in Stowe, Vt. from August 9-11 at the Stoweflake Resort. This year’s convention is a significant step forward to create an environment where contractors can focus on the elements of the industry that can offer the most improvement of services and quality.
The CFA annual convention is the premier education and networking opportunity for the poured wall industry. Contractors, design professionals and product/equipment manufacturers from coast-to-coast gather to discuss the latest trends, achievements and successes as well as focus on ways to improve their business environments. CFA members concentrate on building lasting relationships that make a difference in their business during this three-day event geared towards both management and construction.
This year’s event will have an increased focus on how to improve the management of your business and position your company for growth in today’s changing market conditions. Seminars will be held Friday and Saturday morning with roundtable discussions in the afternoon. Seminar topics include succession planning, crisis communication, foundation education modules, concrete homes, standing firm amidst hurricanes, pan forming, revisiting robotics and GPS as a management tool.
The biggest change, however, to this year’s convention is a feature activity opening the event Thursday night. The CFA will introduce attendees to the inaugural CFA Product Rodeo featuring hands-on product opportunities for operating the broad range of concrete pumps, robotic layout equipment and footing forming systems. Attendees will have the opportunity to view outdoor demonstrations and have hands-on experience with today’s top equipment throughout Thursday afternoon. During the evening, competitions will take place between selected “experts” to see who is the fastest at these respective product stations.
As with years past, the largest attraction remains the power of networking. Being able to meet with your peers as well as with experts in product and equipment to focus on your business alone is perhaps the most unique feature of this event over others throughout the year. From social networking events to roundtable discussions and the many side conversations that take place throughout the three days, members come away with business-shaping ideas that they never anticipated.
