Editor... In this issue: Business Opportunities in MexicoAs the Mexican housing market matures, and the purchasing power of the average Mexican grows, there has been an unprecedented explosion in the demand for new homes throughout the country. In 2004 alone, housing growth in Mexico is projected to total more then 719,000 units. President Vicente Fox’s commitment to build 11.7 million much needed new homes within the next 10 years has helped to spur this growth. Niche markets such as Mexican retirement communities for U.S. Seniors, 2nd homes in Mexico for Mexican families working in the United States, and Mexican style concrete homes in the U.S. Southwest are further fueling the industry in both countries. All of these factors play a part in the building boom that is transforming Mexico. Learn how to enter this burgeoning market by attending the NAHB’s 2nd International Housing Conference of the Americas at the Four Seasons Hotel in Mexico City Nov. 7-10. Join your colleagues and hear Michael Weber, President of NAHB’s Concrete Home Building Council, moderate the panel New Technologies — New Building Materials. Held in partnership with CANADEVI (The Industry Chamber for the Promotion and Development of Housing, Mexico's equivalent to NAHB) this conference offers informative seminars, property tours, table-top exhibits, and numerous networking opportunities, including pre-arranged one-on-one meetings with Mexico’s top construction firms and building professionals. Simultaneous English/Spanish translation is available for all sessions and meetings. "The 2nd International Housing Conference of the Americas is the premier event for Mexican and U.S. companies interested in developing relationships and expanding their business, to meet, learn and explore future opportunities in homebuilding” said Héctor Aguirre, president of CANADEVI.
