CHBC Welcomes New Senior Manager

When I first met with Michael Weber, President of the Concrete Home Building Council (CHBC) at NAHB, to learn of the committee’s mission, I left the meeting feeling extremely impressed by the impact that this faction has made during such a short existence. Created in 2004, the CHBC, along with the support from the Portland Cement Association (PCA) and ten other leading industry associations, has become one of the lead players in education and promotion of the concrete and masonry industries. I jumped at the opportunity to play a part in the growing success of the council.

Now in my third week at NAHB, I continue to be amazed by the wealth of resources available for this developing industry. The highlight of my first weeks has been the conversations with the members of the council. The excitement around the role of the CHBC within the industry is contagious.

2007 promises to be an exciting year. Between building upon the existing momentum of the CHBC, reaching new audiences, and continuing to be an information source for current industry professionals, I plan to be very busy. Great anticipation comes from the development of the new educational courses that provide information to supervisors who manage residential construction sites that utilize concrete materials. With the help of the Home Builders Institute (HBI) — the workforce development arm of NAHB — there is a significant plan to publicize these educational opportunity to industry professionals across the board.

Originally from Pittsburgh, I attended college in Cleveland and have been a resident of Washington, D.C. since 2000. Even though I consider myself a Washingtonian, I’m a tried and true Steelers fan.
