Editor... In this issue: ACI Calls For TopicsACI 332 is the Residential Concrete committee for the American Concrete Institute. This committee and its sub-committees meet on Tuesdays during ACI Conventions. Two official publications have been produced and are maintained by ACI 332. They are the latest ACI Standard, 332-04 Requirements for Residential Concrete Construction and Commentary; and a companion guide, 332R-06 Guide To Residential Concrete Construction. The standard (332-04) has been adopted by the 2006 IRC as an acceptable alternative for the design of foundation walls. These documents continue to evolve as greater depth and product information is developed. The second edition of the standard (332-07) is currently being prepared for public review. With the recent publishing of these two significant documents, the information generated by ACI 332 and the focus thrust on the residential industry have come together to create an opportunity for a Technical Education Session to be held during the ACI Spring Convention in Los Angeles, California in April of 2008. This full-day technical session will offer hot topics based solely on the use of concrete in residential construction and the many facets of developing expertise springing from this industry. ACI 332 has a Call for Papers presently active for all interested in providing information on a potential presentation. If you have a topic to propose for this session, please produce a 150-word description of the topic as an abstract along with a title and presenter and send this to the attention of ACI 332 Secretary, Jim Baty at jbaty@cfawalls.org.
