CHBC Education Offered at 2008 IBS
The 2008 International Builders Show Education Selection Committee met July 10 to sort through the hundreds of submitted education topics. After two days of presentations, deliberations and discussions, the committee finalized the education program agenda for the 2008 IBS.
The Concrete Home Building Council is pleased announce that the committee approved the following CHBC educational sessions to be offered to IBS attendees:

Designing the Concrete Home
An analysis of design strategies for RCF (Removable Concrete Form) and ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) homes. What is different for the designer when designing a concrete home and what you need to know when converting to concrete.
- Introduction to Insulating Concrete Technology
This presentation explores the basics of ICF technology, variations between products, integration of other trades and acceptance by codes. Resources for more information about manufacturers, design tools and research are discussed.
- Diagnosing What Went Wrong:Concrete Troubleshooting
Addresses real-life problems that may occur when using concrete as a building material caused by inadequacies in design, construction, and maintenance practices.
- Weather-Proof 'Fortified' Homes
Affordable weather-tight home teams non-profit, student builders, Safe Home Illinois program of the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago/Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Fortified home program of the Institute for Business and Home Safety.
