Look Out No Date States!

Dear BUILD-PAC Contributor:

I want to thank you, again, for your continued commitment to BUILD-PAC. It was good to see so many of you at the Fall NAHB Board of Directors Meeting in Milwaukee. As you know, showing your support for BUILD-PAC at NAHB Board meetings is one of the most effective ways to increase our membership. While it is hard to believe 2011 is coming to a close, there is much more to be done as we head into the 2012 election cycle.

I want to commend those states who have hosted or planned a fundraising event this year. Times are tough and budgets are strained, but every contribution helps. I want you to know that we recognize the time and effort that goes into planning an event, and we appreciate you and your staff taking the time to make BUILD-PAC fundraising events possible.

However, there are still several states who have yet to contact BUILD-PAC staff to set a date for their fundraiser. I want to again remind you that it is the trustee's responsibility to hold at least one fundraiser in each state by Dec. 31. I encourage you all to reach out to your state trustees and be sure they've confirmed a date with BUILD-PAC staff because before you know it, it will be time to begin planning your 2012 event.

I cannot stress to you enough the importance of utilizing BUILD-PAC staff — and their resources — as they are here to help with any and all of your fundraising needs.  BUILD-PAC staff can make the intimidation of planning an event much easier...all you have to do is ask.

Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to seeing you all in February at IBS!

2011 BUILD-PAC Chairman

Fall Board Recap

A True Milwaukee Experience

As many of you experienced first-hand, the joint BUILD-PAC events hosted at Best Place at the Historic Pabst Brewery were a huge success!

Capitol Club members enjoyed live polka music and a local beer sampling while dining in Blue Ribbon Hall. They also enjoyed after-dinner cigars in the courtyard courtesy of NAHB.

Platinum Club members were treated to a private distillery tasting and were able to take in the outdoors in the King's Courtyard, where photo ops were available to all.

Gold Key Club members were the life of the party, dancing the night away to the band UnXpected in the tented block party atmosphere. The smell of brats, burgers and pretzels filled the air — and stomachs of some — while others watched the opening game of the NFL season on a big screen tv.

To see photos from these lively events, please visit our new BUILD-PAC events page where we plan to post more fun BUILD-PAC related fundraising and social events.

BUILD-PAC Fundraising in Your State

Thank You, States With Dates!

Scotch and Cigars, Anyone?

BUILD-PAC would like to thank Delaware for hosting its first BUILD-PAC fundraiser Wednesday, Sept. 14, in Wilmington at the University & Whist Club.

Attendees sipped on single malt scotch, munched on appetizers and enjoyed cigars courtesy of Harry Miller of Regal Builders, while bidding on silent auction items and getting a quick legislative update about what's going on in Washington.

To view photos from the event visit the HBADE blog update.

2011 Associates for Building Campaign

As many of you know, the 2011 Associates for Building Campaign is underway. If you would like to participate in recruiting 20 new BUILD-PAC contributors in your state before IBS, please reach out to our BUILD-PAC Associates Chair, Monica Sommerfeldt Lewis, or Katie Harman for more information.

Also, if you know an outstanding associate member who's worthy of recognition and you would like to submit their name for consideration for the Bill Polley Award, please click here for more information.

REMINDER!  If you have a simple concept that you think could be turned into a great BUILD-PAC fundraising event, please reach out to BUILD-PAC staff and share your ideas. States are always looking for new success stories to build off of when planning their own events. After all, YOUR state could be the next one highlighted in our quarterly newsletter![return to top]

BUILD-PAC *All Stars*

Make Your Efforts Shine in Your State

We would like to thank all of you for your dedication and commitment to BUILD-PAC.  Economic times are tough, but, as most of you know, investing in BUILD-PAC continues to strengthen our voice by helping to elect pro-housing members of Congress.

BUILD-PAC would like to highlight several states who have already met, or exceeded, their fundraising goals this cycle including Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Kansas, Montana, North Dakota, New Jersey, Nevada and Oklahoma

Thank you for your efforts and continued investment in BUILD-PAC!

BUILD-PAC would also like to congratulate Mike Nagel, NAHB's 2011 Remodeler of the Year. Mike was recognized at the NAHB Remodelers gala during the Remodeling Show in Chicago, and spoke at length about the importance of investing in BUILD-PAC.

We appreciate Mike highlighting the benefits of continuing to give to BUILD-PAC, especially during these tough economic times. Click here to learn more about Mike's award.

We'd also like to thank everyone who goes above and beyond to grow our membership!  Broadening our base of contributors helps BUILD-PAC remain a driving force in Washington, D.C.
