  CAPS Update from IBS

During the CAPS Board of Governors meeting at the International Builders' Show (IBS), the University of Housing reported 2008 was the best year so far for CAPS. To date, there have been 2,298 graduates and 1,570 of them are active. The University of Housing also reported development of a new Designation Guide which has a step by step check list on how to complete the CAPS, CGR and other NAHB designations

The NAHB Remodelers, along with the rest of NAHB were asked to make program cuts for 2009 due to projected shortfalls in revenue. Several cuts that will affect the CAPS program include the elimination of the CGR/CAPS Reception held at the Remodeling Show. CAPS and CGR Graduates, however will still get recognized at the University of Housing Designation Reception at IBS. The CAPS Connection has also been affected by the budget cuts. There will no longer be print editions. The three newsletters per year are now electronic.

The University of Housing reported that the CAPS Board of Governors has not been giving any exemptions for the Business Management class in recent years. A working group will review the current policy and recommend any changes to the policy to the CAPS Board of Governors at the Spring Board meeting.
