CAPS Board of Governors Spring Board Meeting Overview
The CAPS Board of Governors, led by Chairman, Daryl Kemp, CGR, CAPS, GMB, and Vice Chairman, Donny Mack, CGR, CAPS, GMB, met on Thursday, May 28, in Washington, D.C.
The University of Housing reported that Designation Model Rules of Procedures are being created for all NAHB designation programs. Each designation can have unique Operations Manuals. The proposed Rules and Procedures should be ready by the 2010 International Builders' Show.
There are currently a total of 2,609 CAPS graduates with 418 CAPS graduates in 2009 to date. There are 122 CAPS classes scheduled for 2009.
Some changes have been made to CAPS II curriculum to be reflected in the student and instructor guides. The guides should be ready by mid-June.
The CAPS Waiver Policy was changed for the third day of CAPS classes, Business Management for Building Professionals. Exemptions will only be given for certain industry designations including CGR, GMR, CGA, CGB, CGP, GMB, CGA, CR, CKD, CBD, AIA, ASID, GRI, CCIM. Exemptions may also be given to individuals who have earned an MBA within the last 10 years. Exemptions for individual business management courses will no longer be given.
The CAPS Board of Governors created a retention program with the board members calling CAPS graduates who have not renewed their CAPS designation encouraging them to renew.
A working group was set up to study a proposal for a graphic standards manual as a tool for CAPS remodelers in the field.
