  Fall Board Highlights

CAPS Board of Governors 2009 Fall Board Meeting Summary:

  • Daryl Kemp reported that NAHB Remodelers Committee applications for 2010 are now being accepted. Visit this link to complete an application. Individuals interested in a position on the CAPS Board of Governors should also make their interests known to the chairman Daryl Kemp (dek614@aol.com) or vice chairman Donny Mack (donny@mackpro.com) of the CAPS Board of Governors.  There will be two open positions in 2010.

  • There were 153 CAPS classes scheduled for 2009.

  • 2,848 CAPS graduates total and 1,901 currently active. 651 CAPS graduates in 2009 to date.

  • Three CAPS Governors made their calls as part of the CAPS Recapture campaign. Of the 56 names of CAPS graduates who have not renewed their CAPS designation, six have renewed which is a recapture rate of 11%.  Thanks to Mike Davis, Mike Vowels and Rebecca Stahr.

  • NAHB marketing efforts for the CAPS designation includes creating social media outlets, working with AARP and on-demand marketing for customizable brochures.

  • There have been 38.9 million exposures to CAPS stories to date in 2009.

  • Bill Owens, CGR, CAPS updated the committee on the Advanced CAPS course development. A pilot planned for spring 2010.

  • Staff will compare the proposed Model Rules and Procedures and report differences to the CAPS Board of Governors. Staff will also work with the CGR Board of Governors to assure consistency between the CAPS and CGR Rules and Procedures.

  • A working group will review the continuing education requirements for CAPS. The group is Sherry Schwab, Bob Birner, Mike Davis and Alan Hanbury.
