What Does The CGR Stand for After Your Name on Your Business Card?
by Stephen C. Spurrell, CGR, CAPS, president of Neighborhood Builders, Inc. of Guilford, CT

The potential client that asks me this question is always answered first with a beaming smile from me! I know that I am about to set myself apart from any other contractors that may be in line to win the confidence (and therefore the contract) of my next client. I answer their question by explaining that I am one of only a handful in the state and only a thousand in the country to complete this industry specific classroom training offered by the National Association of Home Builders. A look of relief on the face of the client generally tells me — I’ve got the job!

I work in an area of educated consumers. They appreciate and acknowledge a Remodelor™ that strives to be more educated than the “competition.” Every class has made my business better in some measurable way. Networking with those in similar businesses around the country has been an extreme pleasure and increased my circle of friends dramatically!

Education should be looked on as an investment. I can undoubtedly attest that both the short- and long-term rewards are huge! I am personally better and my business is much better because of the educational opportunities offered by NAHB!
