Chairman's Letter
Hello Fellow CGR’s!
This is my first shot at communicating with you all as your 2008 CGR Board of Governors Chairman.
To kick off the year, I want to let you all know it is not only an honor but a privilege to serve the Industry, but to serve such a great group of professionals in this manner. Thanks to all who have placed their trust and confidence in me and I will do my best to lead and not let anything slip backwards from the great leadership we’ve had in the past. I have big shoes to fill.
I also want to welcome Mr. Jeff Hunt, CGR, GMB, CAPS, as our Vice-Chair for the year. I look forward to working with him and the rest of you in growing the CGR designation to new heights.
We have some great things working for 2008, much of which I have to credit previous chairs and the CGR Board of Governors. A few of the highlights are:
Finally, we’ll be kicking off the new GMR Designation this spring at the Spring Board Meeting in Washington, D. C. This has been a long project, but has finally reached its time and will be available in a few weeks with a full speed-ahead process. If you’ve got three cycles (nine years) of CGR under your belt, get ready to jump into being a Graduate Master Remodeler.
A group of CGR Governors have been working on revising the CGR PREP Test since last October. Their enduring commitment culminated with a two-day review in D. C. on March 31 and April 1, giving the final review and stamp of approval. Thanks to all who helped and special thanks to Bob Bell, CGR, CAPS, for spearheading the committee. The Prep Test will be up and running very soon and hopefully will be a fairer and a more usable tool in evaluating future CGRs.
I could certainly go on and on, but mostly I want to let you know we have plans to continue working to make CGR and GMR more visible, more valid and continue to grow the designation program at NAHBR. I want to ask each and every one of you to get engaged, promote your professionalism through promotion of your designations and please share any and all ideas you may have to help continue the work of this great organization. I stand by for you to contact me any time you desire, to listen and to serve you to the best of my ability.
Thanks and have a great year,
Bob Peterson, CGR, CAPS
