NAHB Resources on Energy Tax Credit Can Help Generate Jobs

NAHB and the NAHB Remodelers have created free guides and resources on the expanded 30% federal energy-efficiency tax credits that remodelers can use to help explain the tax benefits available to prospective customers who improve the energy efficiency of their homes.

The federal tax credits are expected to generate about $6 billion in green renovation projects through 2010, according to congressional economists.

Available online, the new NAHB Remodelers resources include a downloadable fact sheet that explains the tax credits home owners are eligible for when they install energy-efficient heating and air conditioning systems, windows and doors, new insulation and other products that improve home energy efficiency.

Remodelers can add their company’s logo to the fact sheet in order to create a marketing flyer for prospective customers.

In addition, remodelers and consumers can visit www.nahb.org/efficiencytaxcredit for more detailed information on all the products that qualify for the tax credit. Additionally, members can access a free teleconference about the tax credit at www.nahb.org/efficiencycall.

The tax credit site updates and corrects information originally available through the Energy Star Web site. It also encourages home owners to contact an NAHB remodeler for expert advice and directs them to the NAHB Directory of Professional Remodelers.
