HTA Charges Ahead at IBS 2009
There are changes ahead for HTA structure and governance. The HTA’s 2009 International Builder's Show (IBS) meeting was another productive and informative gathering. Members convened in Las Vegas on Monday, Jan. 19, to discuss the Alliance’s development, current projects, and future activities.
A draft of the meeting minutes is available on the HTA Web page. Highlights of the meeting include:
- HTA members approved a revised charge that will make the Alliance an official NAHB subcommittee of the Custom Home Builders Committee. Doing so will raise the visibility of the group, and further cement its place within NAHB. Significantly, the charge proposes allowing the sitting HTA Chair and Sponsor Vice Chair, to appoint six voting members, in order to streamline official decision-making on the group’s part. The charge will be submitted to NAHB’s Executive Officers for review and approval.
- NAHB CEO and President Jerry Howard spoke to the group. Howard was warmly welcomed, and his presentation well-received. He acknowledged the HTA’s growing importance, and his gave his assurance that home technology is of top importance to the NAHB. He also thanked CEDIA for its continued support of the Alliance.
