E-mail Our Editor In this issue: About the Home Technology Alliance (HTA)
Great profit opportunities exist in home technologies and related services wait to be tapped by builders and remodelers. These additional revenue streams can help offset the effect of the challenging housing market. According to recent studies,* while the new housing market is falling, growth in consumer electronics is continuing – with a predicted growth of 7% or $155 billion for 2007. The Home Technology Alliance (HTA) was formed in response to consumer demand and research that demonstrated potential for builder and remodeler financial rewards. The HTA serves the housing industry as a resource for home technology products and services through education, communications, and member benefits and services. Oversight Work Group: Comprised of NAHB member builders, remodelers, electronic systems contractors (ESCs), product manufacturers, and other industry players, the NAHB HTA Work Group has oversight of HTA activities. Governance: The NAHB Custom Home Builders Committee has governance over the HTA.
Founding Sponsor: The Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) is the founding sponsor of the HTA and offers technology expertise to the HTA. HTA Oversight: HTA Benefits: HTA Projects: Research - Collaborating with Electronic Systems Contractors (ESCs) In 2006 the NAHB IRM (Institute of Residential Marketing) and CEDIA collaborated with the NAHB Research Center to study ways for builders and industry professionals to work with electronic systems contractors (ESCs) in a more profitable way. The Home Technology Alliance (HTA) is a partnership between NAHB and the Custom Electronic Design Installation Association (CEDIA) that was formed to position the housing industry to effectively meet the growing homebuyer demand for home technology and provide maximum return on investment in the new home building and remodeling process.
