Award: Hidden Installation Gold Technical Design CEDIA Memeber: HeAVi, LLC Charleston, SC Architect: Mark P. Finlay Architects Southport, CT Builder: Bay 10 Ventures, Inc. Hilton Head Island, SC Interior Designer: Cullman & Kravis, Inc. New York, NY HeAVi believes that a hidden installation must allow a room to be used in two completely separate manners, and that the best hidden installations provide a serious “wow” factor when switching between modes. In this case, the room is a large gathering area for the family to sit and enjoy the ocean view as well as a top-notch media room with seating around a 60” plasma screen. HeAVi, LLC refused to compromise the use of either of the room’s functions and designed and installed a lift capable of raising a massive cabinet. One touch of the Crestron touchpanel raises the cabinet in the up position and immediately transforms the space into a great media room complete with a 60” plasma; left, right, and center speakers; two powered subwoofers; and other A/V components. Yet, when the cabinet is in the down position, nobody would even think it even existed. In order to house all of the equipment, the cabinet is over 100” tall and wide and truly allows the room to shine both as a family room and a media room - both with great views. Equipment from the following manufacturers was used in this project: Vidikron, JM Lab, Linn, Velodyne, Monster Power, Electrokinetics, and Crestron. Time and Expertise Worksheet
