HTA Spring Meeting Brings Changes, New Faces

The HTA’s meeting during NAHB’s Spring Board of Directors meeting was a productive gathering highlighted by major changes to the Alliance and the introduction of several new faces.

Newly appointed Chair Stephen Hann, GMB, CGR, CGP kicked off the discussion. Hann is currently a member of the Custom Home Builders Committee and was honored by NAHB as its 2008 Custom Home Builder of the Year. He also recognized and introduced HTA Vice Chair Andy Rosenthal, CGB, CGP, a past and active member of the Custom Committee. Hann also acknowledged the continuing contributions of Matt Carter, Sponsor Vice Chair.

Highlights of the meeting were:

  • Four content, area-specific workgroups were established, and chairs assigned.  The groups and leaders are:
    • Education — Tony Crasi. The Crasi Company
    • Marketing — Erik Anderson, Lutron
    • Standards & Symbols — Ric Johnson, RL Johnson Construction Services
    • Trends & Research — Larry Hartley, Electrolux
  • Representatives from the Consumer Electronics Association presented key findings from the 7th Annual State of the Builder Technology Market Survey. This well-respected and important publication reports on how builders are view home technology vis-à-vis their business operations including marketing, customer/client development, and vendor/contractor relations.
  • A webinar to discuss the CEA’s study has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 22 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. EDT. The discussion will feature NAHB, CEDIA, and CEA staff and members discussing what key data builders and ESCs need to know about home technology how and it can affect their business. The program is co-sponsored by CEDIA, CEA, and HTA.
