FHFA REAFFIRMS SUPPORT OF GSE MULTIFAMILY HOUSING MISSION
Jerry Howard, executive vice president and CEO of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), today issued the following statement on the Federal Housing Finance Agency’s announcement to continue its support of multifamily housing finance activities for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac:
“We commend FHFA for issuing a definitive statement in support of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac conducting business as usual as it relates to both their single-family and multifamily housing finance activities while the two firms remain in conservatorship.

“We are pleased that FHFA also singled out the particular importance of the low-income housing tax credit and mortgage revenue bond programs as vital components to provide liquidity to the housing market and maintain a vibrant secondary market.

“FHFA understands that now, more than ever, Fannie and Freddie must continue operating in a responsible manner and serve their mission of providing affordable homeownership and rental opportunities to all Americans.” [return to top]
