E-mail Our Editor In this issue: Multifamily Starts Rise 36 Percent but Single Family Numbers Fall FurtherTotal housing starts rose 8.2 percent in April to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.032 million as construction of multifamily units jumped 36 percent following a 35 percent drop in the previous month. However, construction of new single-family units fell 2 percent in April to an adjusted 692,000, their lowest level in 17 years. Both single and multifamily permits advanced in April.
