Letter from the Editor
Welcome to our new format! The LANDSLetter is a tri-annual electronic publication designed to give members of the LANDS National Attorney Network easy access to significant legal news, cases, and legislation on land use and environmental issues. This new publication format will allow us to better highlight new issues and allow you to track land use trends across the nation. In addition to our new LANDSLetter format, other exciting things are happening within the LANDS National Attorney Network . . .
Our LANDS Attorney Directory is now on NAHB's member Web site. You will find that attorneys are categorized by state for your convenience. By the end of the year, we expect to convert the directory to an online searchable database. If you have not used your NAHB password in some time, it may not work on our new system. If you let me know, we'll get a new one for you.
You will notice our Attorney Profiles section in this issue. We will be highlighting LANDS members in each issue so that you can get to know each other better. This time, you will meet a new LANDS member, but in the future, we expect to introduce both seasoned and new members. Also, we would like to have you tell us what's going on in your world — firm changes, exciting cases, or interesting local news. Just quickly e-mail us and we'll make a note for the next issue.
Finally, we are in the process of planning the 2004 LANDS Annual Roundtable & Workshop for April 2-3, 2004 in Napa, CA. The program will contain a few of your old favorites like a takings law update, the environmental issue update, and a litigation strategy discussion, but will also include some new issues of interest to LANDS members. So mark your calendars now, and we'll send you more detailed information before the end of the year!
