17th Annual LANDS Roundtable & Workshop a Great Success!

The Seventeenth Annual LANDS Roundtable & Workshop, held April 7 - 9, 2006, in sunny Carlsbad, California, was well attended by LANDS members and guests from across the country.

Program topics included a day and a half of discussion for attorneys on regulatory takings and eminent domain, due process, affordable/workforce housing, ethics in land use law, inclusionary zoning, wetlands, and stormwater.   Participants also received updates on the status of federal legislation pending on Capitol Hill regarding endangered species and property rights issues.  See, e.g., H.R. 4772 in the Federal & State Legislative Updates article.

In addition, the California State Bar approved this conference for 9.25 continuing legal education credits, including 1.5 for ethics.  California calculates its credits based upon a 60-minute program.  Other participants who are licensed in 50-minute states were eligible for approval of up to 11.5 credits (including 1.5 for ethics).

We wish to extend our thanks to the California Building Industry Association and the law firm of Cox, Castle & Nicholson, LLP for their generous sponsorship of two networking events held during the weekend conference.  Many thanks to all of our participants and sponsors alike who made this a well attended and informative conference.
