 SMI Magazine Wins Folio Award
Sales + Marketing Ideas magazine wins a Silver Ozzie Award for the new design.

Sales + Marketing Ideas (SMI) magazine was lauded with a Silver Ozzie Award for Best Redesign in the Nonprofit/Institutional Category. This prestigious award is open to all magazines and recognizes excellence in magazine design. Sponsored Folio Magazine, which specializes in magazine management, the Ozzie Awards are judged by a distinguished group of editors, publishers, and consultants.

“We are gratified and pleased that through the hard work and dedication of our staff, contributors, and Bates Creative Group that Sales + Marketing Ideas magazine has been recognized for the first time by the Ozzie awards,” said Joseph P. McGaw, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief.

McGaw attended the Celebration of Excellence Awards Gala on Monday, November 15, in New York, with the Bates Creative Group, who spearheaded the creative redesign. The finalists in the Best Redesign included: Perspective; Sales + Marketing Ideas; and The Penn Stater.

SMI was redesigned with the help of the National Sales and Marketing Council team under the direction of McGaw who managed the redesign activities. The first issue featuring the new design was unveiled at NAHB’s 2004 International Builders’ Show, and received a tremendous response from members, advertisers, and show attendees.

In addition to the Ozzie, SMI has received other recognition and awards. Over the years, SMI has won a SNAP (Society of National Association Publications) Excel Bronze Award and 4 PIVA (Printing Industry of Virginia) Awards. However the Ozzie was the first award SMI has won in a National awards event.

SMI is a service of NAHB’s National Sales and Marketing Council, which serves more than 14,000 members and supports more than 100 local sales and marketing councils across the United States.
