Start Planning for National Designation Month
 The " Destination Designation" ship will again set sail in February for the 3rd annual National Designation Month. National Designation Month celebrates achievements, rewards accomplishments, emphasizes public awareness, and encourages education participants to complete requirements in NAHB's designation programs.
SMCs should start planning their curriculum with The NAHB University of Housing of housing now. Early planning = great success for this annual event all about education and designees! Visit the National Designation page for more information.
New Locations for NAHB Shows Scheduled in New Orleans
Two NAHB conferences — the 2005 Custom Builder Symposium and SHOWCASE — have been relocated from the storm-ravaged New Orleans area. The Custom Builder Symposium now will take place at the same time in Atlanta, but with even more anticipated offerings, as previously planned on Nov. 11-13. It's taken nothing less than a Herculean effort to reschedule and relocate everything on time, but it's going to happen!
A yeoman's effort was needed to relocate the 2005 Building Systems Councils' SHOWCASE, but that, too, was accomplished in record time. SHOWCASE will now be held in Louisville, KY, on Nov. 6-9, as originally planned.
Deadline Extended for Best of Seniors Housing Awards
The deadline for entries is rapidly approaching so enter today! Submit your best in 50+ housing by Friday, Sept. 30 or until Friday, Oct. 7 with a $50 late penalty.
The 2006 Best of Seniors Housing Awards rewards those who adapt to the changing 50+ market with innovative product and marketing. The 50-plus housing market is one of the fastest-growing segments of the building industry, and this rapid growth is fueled by the entrance of the baby boomers into the hot active adult segment. Boomers are changing the entire senior housing market, and the industry is searching for new products and services to attract them.
