A Sweet Silver Anniversary for The Nationals
This year marked the 25th anniversary of The Nationals, the National Sales and Marketing Awards presented by NSMC. The ceremony, held Jan. 11 at the Orlando World Center Marriott, was at its most glamorous, with silver and black table dressing, the requisite red carpet entry, and an incredible music program. 2005 Nationals Chair Kay Green, MIRM, opened the festivities with a video recap of memorable events and faces from the past 25 years. Also noted was a tribute to John Dickson, MIRM, who passed away in December. Dickson was honored with a round of applause for his long career and remarkable contributions to the industry.
"This year, as we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Nationals, we reflect and recognize how we have grown as an industry and challenge ourselves to continue to develop personally. We celebrate our progress and look forward to what the future has to offer," said Green.
Comedian Michael Davis kept the crowd in high spirits with his kooky brand of prop comedy. In addition to juggling bowling balls and catching all manner of objects in his mouth, Davis managed to announce winners and present awards with reverence and polish.
The 2006 Legends Award was presented to Tom Richey, MIRM, president of Richey Resources in Houston. The Legends of Residential Marketing Award was instituted in 1992 to honor builders and consultants who stand apart as leaders in the new home marketing field. The Legends are selected for their professional commitment to the industry and new home community marketing innovations.
