National Membership Day 2007: NSMC Nets Record 765 New Members

Local Sales and Marketing Councils truly were the “Leaders of the Pack” in NAHB’s National Membership Day 2007 competition held on May 23. Participating SMCs recruited 765 new members — a record for the National Sales and Marketing Council and the highest total of any NAHB councils.

The results have been tallied and the four SMCs who signed up the most new members in May are:

  • Group 1: 10-49 Members
    Greater Montgomery HBA, Montgomery, Ala.

  • Group 2: 50-99 members
    Horry-Georgetown HBA, Conway, S.C.

  • Group 3: 100-249 members
BIA of Southern California – Inland Empire, Huntington Beach, Calif.

  • Group 4: 250+ members
HBA of Northern California, Sam Ramon, Calif.

The Greater Montgomery HBA edged the HBA of Greater Dallas at the finish line to claim Group 1, but it was a great ride by both SMCs. The Horry-Georgetown HBA was a repeat winner in Group 2, while California SMCs did well, with the BIA of Southern California and HBA of Northern California won Group 3 and Group 4, respectively. Congrats to the winning SMCs for their superb recruitment efforts.

The SMCs win a $200 voucher for The NAHB University of Housing materials, recognition at the NSMC and IRM Board of Trustees meeting at Fall Board, and recognition in Sales + Marketing Ideas magazine.

Individual recruiters who signed up five or more new members won a $25 American Express gift card. However, the top individual winner took home the big prize – a free registration to the 2008 International Builders’ Show in February 2008 in Orlando, Fla.  Mugs Mullins of Alfa Realty in Prattville, Ala., was the No. 1 recruiter, inking 45 new members for Greater Montgomery.
