Learn How to Knock Out Your Continuing Education Hours at IBS

If you have earned a sales and marketing designation through NAHB University of Housing and the Institute of Residential Marketing (IRM), then you know you need to keep up with your continuing education requirements. The question is, how and where can you fulfill these hours?

First, you need to make sure you know exactly how many hours you need. Anyone holding these sales and marketing designations needs to earn the following number of continuing education hours every three years:

Designation

Number of Continuing Education Hours

CSP

2

Master CSP

4

CMP

6

MIRM

8

CSPs need two continuing education hours, Master CSPs need four, CMPs need six and MIRMs are required to have eight continuing education hours.

One of the easiest ways to pick up continuing education hours is to go to any of the three NAHB Board of Director meetings. Whether it is Fall Board, Spring Board or IBS, any of the sales and marketing education sessions count as continuing education.

With more than 50 sales and marketing-related education sessions, Vegas is the best place to keep up with your designation requirements! Check out the rest of this eNews issue for details on some of the regular education programs such as the MIRM ProEd, the Super Sales Rally and the Sales Management Summit.

If you can't make it to IBS in January, there are certainly other ways to earn continuing education hours.

  • any sales and marketing programs or seminars at regional conventions
  • any IRM course or program (excluding IRM I - IV)
  • any local NAHB, HBA or SMC course or program
    • these must be non-IRM courses/programs, which are sponsored by NAHB, a local or state HBA, a SMC or HBI
    • two full hours of instruction from such courses/programs equals one continuing education hour
