In Memory of Stephen Craig Mackey

Stephen Craig Mackey, 58, Naples, Fla., passed away on Monday, March 16th at 8:30am, at Naples Community Hospital after a nine-year battle with prostate cancer. Steve was born in Rock Island, Ill. on August 27, 1950 to Kenneth James and Olza Lee (Anderson) Mackey. Steve is survived by his wife Lesa, his children Ryan Mackey of Columbus, Ohio; Kerry Griffith (Brody) of Centerburg, Ohio, along with his new grandson, Rogue Owen Griffith; Lesa’s children, Jamie Jessee, Bonita Springs, Fla. and Blake Jessee of Noblesville, Ind.; a niece, Aleta Mackey of Los Angeles, Calif.; and Kathy Mackey of Indianapolis, Ind., friend and the mother of Ryan and Kerry. His canine companion, Kobe, a mini toy poodle brought him much joy and survives as well. He has many long time friends stretching around the world and across the U.S. and Canada.
Steve was a home builder, residential developer, and Realtor® in the Naples area since 2000 and spent his life and 30-year career between Denver, Colo.; Indianapolis, Ind.; Minneapolis, Minn.; and Toronto, Canada. Designated with the MIRM affiliation, he was heavily active with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), as well as local chapters of each in all the cities in which he lived, and was on the board of trustees for NAHB's National Sales & Marketing Council.
He was selected many times to judge NAHB's National Sales & Marketing Awards (The Nationals) and also judged industry awards in other cities. He was instrumental in developing and writing the NAHB course Certified New Home Sales Professional. Steve was a member of the Naples Area Board of Realtors and the Collier Building Industry Association. In Naples, he was instrumental in the start-up and had been a partner in Coastal Breeze Homes, LLC. He held a Florida Residential Builder License and a Florida real estate broker license. Most recently, he was affiliated with John R. Wood Realtors, Uptown Office.
