Veridian Homes Named EnergyValue Housing Award Builder of the Year

The NAHB Research Center recently announced the winners of its annual EnergyValue Housing Award (EVHA) at the 2007 International Builders’ Show (IBS) in Orlando, Fla.

The NAHB Research Center recently announced the winners of its annual EnergyValue Housing Award (EVHA) at the 2007 International Builders’ Show (IBS) in Orlando, Fla. Veridian Homes of Madison, Wis. was selected from among this year’s EVHA winners as the 2007 Builder of the Year; the program’s top award for the company that best combines energy-efficient home building practices with integrated design approaches and cutting-edge technology.

As Wisconsin’s largest builder, Veridian Homes is making a big impact. The company specializes in building homes and neighborhoods dedicated to smart growth and green building practices, and all of its homes are built to ENERGY STAR and Green Built Home standards. Veridian’s award-winning, 2,728-square-foot home design is an excellent example of how energy efficiency adds value to residential construction.

Earning the EVHA’s top honor follows many tremendous achievements for the company who in 2004 became one of the first NHQ Certified Builders in the nation. Veridian Homes was also the winner of a 2006 Gold National Housing Quality Award, an ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence Award (2006), and was named ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year in 2004 and 2005.

The word Veridian translates into “a shade of green.” The company honors its namesake with its environmentally-minded land development and home building practices. These practices, along with Veridian’s trademarked 312-point quality checklist, have led to a 95 percent customer satisfaction rating.

Now in its 12th year, the EVHA not only recognizes energy-efficient practices, but also serves to educate the home building industry and the public about advanced technologies and successful approaches to energy-efficient construction that can now be implemented by mainstream builders. EVHA winners select framing methods, insulation, and appliances that result in high efficiencies, paying careful attention to air sealing, ductwork, and ventilation as well.

The EVHA program is managed by the NAHB Research Center, and operated in partnership with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the U.S. Department of Energy through the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
