The Executive Guide to Understanding and Implementing the Baldrige Criteria is a newly published reference for executives or managers new to quality, or to organizations interested in introductory information. This guide to understanding the criteria of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, will be especially beneficial for national, regional, state, and local quality award organizations as a resource to their examiners and to companies wanting to become involved in the Baldrige award process. The Executive Guide can also be used as a reference during training courses and continuing education classes, for companies that have internal quality awards, or for self-assessment and application for industry-specific awards such as the National Housing Quality Award – which is based on the Baldrige Award. Portions of this book are based on research from a nationwide Delphi study group assembled for the purpose of evaluating the benefits, considerations, and disadvantages of implementing the Baldrige model. This research effort evaluated the steps involved in adoption and implementing the Baldrige Criteria. Authored by Denis Leonard of Veridian Homes – an NHQ Certified Builder and NHQA winner – and Mac McGuire, this complete guide provides the criteria, outline, and values in appendices for the reader's convenience. The Executive Guide is available for purchase through the American Society for Quality (ASQ) bookstore, at www.asq.org.
