The Appraisal Industry In a Nutshell
Be in the know about appraisals. NAHB’s Real Estate Appraisal Industry Overview outlines the evolution of the appraisal industry, the new “Home Value Code of Conduct," financial institutions' role in the appraisal process, and more...

  • Appraisers who belong to one or more appraisal trade groups often have experience and education beyond the minimum statutory requirements

  • Two-thirds of all real estate appraisers do not belong to an appraisal-related trade association

  • Starting Oct. 1, 2009, federal law will require all appraisers who conduct appraisals for FHA-insured mortgage loans to be certified, which requires more education and experience than a licensed classification
