E-mail Our Editor In this issue: Council and CAPS on NBC Nightly NewsOnce again, national attention focused on the Remodelors Council as NBC Nightly News highlighted the hot trend of remodeling to age-in-place. Featuring Barry Corbett, CAPS, of Raleigh, N.C., Council Chairman Vince Butler, CGR, CAPS, GMB, CAPS instructer Brindley Byrd, CGR, CAPS, and Corbett’s client the Yarurs family, NBC Nightly News showcased the value for homeowners in planning ahead with their remodeling (View the story here. Read the web article here). Said NBC Correspondent Rehema Ellis on the growth of aging in place, “It's a plan millions of other boomers may follow — as they age gracefully — at home.”
NBC is the second national primetime TV news organization to feature the Council’s members and aging in place. In May, CBS Evening News ran a similar story along with a front page in USA Today (see those stories here). The combined audience of the two news shows is over 16 million viewers per night. In comparative terms, the airtime of the two stories would cost more than $500,000 if purchased for commercials.
This year, the Remodelors Council has reached well over 100 million people through stories in national and local news organizations across the country. To learn more about the Council in the news, e-mail Jim Lapides at jlapides@nahb.com, or call him at 800-368-5242 x8415.
