In this issue: Pat Mahoney Goes Above and Beyond for '7 in '07' CampaignPat Mahoney, one of this year’s Bryan Patchan scholarship winners and chair of the Memphis Area HBA Remodelers Council has once again proved his commitment to the NAHB Remodelers by completing the “7 in ‘07” membership program. Mahoney has brought in 21 new NAHB Remodelers members since Jan. 1.
The “7 in ‘07” campaign was started as a way to boost membership by getting current members to refer potential members to NAHB. For each new member recruited, participants get Spike credits (which are put toward an invitation to a private reception), along with gifts and e-newsletter recognition. Mahoney’s main drive to bring others into the fold came from a desire to share what he had learned with the people he worked with. “I had to get everybody I did business with involved,” he said. “I shamed a few people into it,” Mahoney laughed. “I said, ‘If you’re in this business, you have to get involved. Things [in the remodeling industry] are different than new construction, and you need to be up to date on what’s going on.’” Mahoney touted the member benefits to his colleagues, saying, “If you don’t hang out with other home building professionals, you’ll find out important information after the fact instead of when everything’s current.” Overall, Mahoney sees getting his colleagues and friends to join NAHB as good for both himself and the industry. “You get out what you put into it. You can’t afford not to be involved.” For more information or to contact us directly, please visit www.NAHB.org | ©2005, National Association of Home Builders |
