New Mexico’s Rutherford Is 2008 NAHB Remodelers Chair

Lonny Rutherford, CGR, CAPS
Legacy Construction

Lonny Rutherford, CGR, CAPS, president of Legacy Construction, Inc. in Farmington, N.M., was recently appointed as the 2008 chairman of the NAHB Remodelers during the International Builders’ Show in Orlando.

As chairman of the leading professional organization for residential remodeling, Rutherford represents the more than 14,000 remodeling industry members of NAHB. In this position, he will work as both an advocate for the council’s members and for the industry.

Rutherford’s goals for the NAHB Remodelers are to continue the growth of industry professionalism, increase consumer awareness of remodeling, protect against contractor fraud and keep members at the forefront of industry developments.

“I’m honored to lead the nation’s professional association for remodelers,” said Rutherford. “NAHB Remodelers members include the best and brightest of the industry — people who further professionalism through smart business practices, continuing education and beautiful craftsmanship.”

Throughout his career, Rutherford has held many leadership positions with NAHB at the local, state and national levels, including serving as the president of the New Mexico Home Builders Association, a state representative for NAHB and as a member of the NAHB Executive Board since 2001.

Rutherford has worked in the remodeling and construction business since 1972. In recognition of his professionalism and excellence in remodeling, he has garnered many awards, including NAHB National Remodeler of the Year in 2001 and the New Mexico HBA’s Don Martin Leadership Award in 2002.
