Seniors Housing Council Adds New Local Council in St. Louis

The NAHB Seniors Housing Council continues to grow, adding its 12th local Senior Housing Council recently. The HBA of Greater St. Louis launched the St. Louis 50+ Housing Council — the first local SHC in the Midwest.

“With more seniors staying closer to home upon retirement, the market for active adult communities is expanding across the country,” said Steve Dickhut of Show-Me Senior Housing, LLC, a Chesterfield, MO-based builder/developer and 2005 chairman of the St. Louis 50+ Housing Council. “A local council will educate our members about the growing 50+ market and help the local housing industry better meet the needs of mature consumers.”

The St. Louis 50+ Housing Council will focus on the needs of builders, developers, architects, sales and marketing professionals, Realtors, and other housing professionals interested in the 50+ market, including active adult and service-enriched seniors housing, including assisted living, independent living, and continuing care retirement communities.

The new local council will offer education, information, and networking for its members, while promoting concepts such as universal design and aging in place.

St. Louis joins existing local councils in Atlanta, Central Arizona, Central Washington, Denver, Gold Coast (Fla.), Maryland/Washington, D.C., Metro Harrisburg (Pa.), New England, New Jersey, Southern California, and Twin Cities.
