Fair Housing: Learn about Accessibility, Age-Restriction, and Marketing

The NAHB 50+ Housing Council's Advocacy, Legislative, and Rental Seniors Housing Committee will host a presentation titled "Fair Housing: Accessibility, Age-Restriction, and Marketing," during the 2006 International Builders' Show. The discussion will take place during the committee meeting from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at the Orange County Convention Center.

Committee co-chair Sheila Salmon of Coan and Lyons, a Washington, DC-based attorney specializing in housing and HUD-related issues, will headline a panel that includes Kathi Coughlin of the Fair Housing Institute, an Atlanta, GA-based consulting firm whose mission is to educate the housing industry about the economic and social benefits of Fair Housing and equal opportunity.

Salmon and Coughlin will cover the following topics:

  • Accessibility (requirements and some examples of litigation)
  • Age-restriction and the d(4) program
  • Marketing and the Fair Housing Act
  • And much more!

Participants will have opportunities to ask questions and learn how to work within the parameters of the Fair Housing Act. Multifamily  builders and developers of age-qualified housing are strongly encouraged to attend.
