50+ New England Housing Council Presents Session on Marketing Designation Communities

The 50-Plus New England Housing Council will hold its next Breakfast Series meeting at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, at Shepard’s Cove in Kittery, Maine. The topic will be “Marketing Destination Communities.”

The session will teach industry professionals the difference between a destination community and one that draws from a local market, show them where buyers come from and why, and how to find these customers and increase sales.

In addition, attendees will learn how to market and sell destination communities and local market developments from a panel of experts who will share their experiences and insights.

Attendees also will have the opportunity to tour Shepard’s Cove, a recent Silver Award Winner for Best Active Adult Community in the 2006 Best of Seniors Housing Awards.

Click here for more information or to register for the session. Or contact Catie Ruggiero at 617-773-1660 or e-mail info@50plusne.com. Cost is $20 for 50-Plus New England council members, $25 for non-members and those who register at the door.

Get Involved with the Membership and Marketing Committee

Want a few great ideas for your local 50+ Housing Council? Get involved with the 50+ Housing Council’s Membership and Marketing Committee.

The committee meets during the International Builders’ Show and NAHB’s Spring and Fall Board of Directors Meetings. The committee and its Local Council Working Group also conducts monthly conference calls.

50+ Housing Council staff contacts and leaders are encouraged to join the committee. Each local council should try to send a member to at least one meeting and to regularly participate in the conference calls. It’s a great way for the local council to stay connected and find out about upcoming events as well as national benefits.

Councils discuss ways to improve membership retention and recruitment as well as provide quality education to their members. They also provide a forum for local councils to share successes and discuss challenges they face.

The next conference call is scheduled for 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. EDT Monday, July 17. To participate in the call, call 888-891-0496 and use pass code 2668292.

The next meeting will take place from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at NAHB’s Fall Board of Directors Meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Contact Jeff Jenkins at 800-368-5242 x8292 or jjenkins@nahb.com to join the Membership and Marketing Committee or for more information.
