Get the Latest Edition of the Directory of Accessible Building Products
The 17th edition of the NAHB Research Center’s popular Directory of Accessible Building Products (DABP) was released at the 2007 International Builders' Show to assist builders and remodelers in meeting the housing needs of older adults and homeowners with special physical needs.
The DABP provides information on over 200 commercially available products for aging in place and universal design that help homebuyers and homeowners to live comfortably, safely, and independently in their homes for as long as possible. Most adults don’t like to think that they will experience physical changes or develop age-related conditions that could limit some of their daily activities. But when the time comes to face aging challenges, the ability to age in place with dignity and comfort is greatly enhanced with the benefit of products designed for accessibility.
The DABP is a convenient and powerful purchasing resource for builders, remodelers, and designers who are meeting the market demand for more functional and livable housing options for older adults and those with accessibility challenges. Standard features of the directory include kitchen and bath products, appliances, and fixtures. Other sections focus on home automation, climate control products, stair lifts, and accessible floor plans.
Brought to you by the Research Center through the generous sponsorship of Lowe’s, NAHB’s 50+ Housing Council, and the Remodeler’s Council, the 2007 DABP is available for download online at www.ToolBase.org/dabp. You can also order a complete printed copy of the 2007 DABP in the Research Center’s online bookstore, or by calling the calling (800) 638-8556. There is no charge for the DABP, only a $6.50 shipping and handling fee for mail orders.
Manufacturers interested in listing their accessible product(s) in the 2008 Directory of Accessible Building Products, or Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) professionals seeking multiple copies for distribution, should contact the Research Center. [Return to top]
