Louisiana Looking for Retirement Community Developers
The state of Louisiana is attempting to gauge the level of interest in a proposed retirement community project in Richland Parish, La. The proposed development, on a site identified by the state, is located on a large reservoir adjacent to a championship golf course.
"Our challenge is clear. We must build upon what we have and get the word out — Louisiana is a great place to retire," Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu said. "We have a low cost of living, a welcoming and lively culture, extraordinary and diverse natural beauty, and a warm climate. Our state has so much to offer retirees looking to relocate."
If there is interest in the project, the state will utilize a competitive process to identify one or more experienced developers, architects, builders and property management companies to assist the state in the design, development, marketing and management of a self-sustaining, planned community designed for the active adult older population.
Ultimately, the state hopes to identify a contractor who can provide a turnkey operation for the project, handling everything from site planning and design to development, construction, marketing and operations.
Developers interested in building the proposed retirement community in northern Louisiana should submit statements of interest by Friday, May 4.
