Local 50+ Housing Councils were truly the “Leaders of the Pack” in NAHB’s National Membership Day competition. Local councils signed up a whopping 120 new members – a record number for the 50+ Housing Council and double the amount of last year’s tally.

The results are official and the winners include:

• Top Local 50+ Housing Council — The Greater Washington Metro Area 50+ Housing Council, a regional council comprised of members of the Maryland-National Capital BIA and the Northern Virginia BIA, signed up the most new members in May. Kudos to chair Leslie Marks of Marks Collaborative in Gaithersburg, Md., and her crew for a superb effort! Greater Washington edged the 50 Plus New England Housing Council and the BIA of Southern California 50+ Housing Council for top honors and won a $250 voucher from The NAHB University of Housing to use on course materials.
  
  
• Top Individual Recruiter – George Cundy of Cundy, Santine & Associates Architects in Shoreville, Minn., was the No. 1 recruiter, signing up a dozen new members for BA of the Twin Cities’ 50+ Housing Council. Cundy won bragging rights for a year, not to mention a complimentary registration to the Building for Boomers & Beyond: 50+ Housing Symposium coming up May 2008 in New Orleans.

In addition, the HBA of Greater Kansas City launched its Greater Kansas City 50+ Housing Council, recruiting 25 new members during its first month. The newly formed Greater Houston 50+ Housing Council and HBA of Greater Grand Rapids Lifetime Housing Council also helped make it a record month for the 50+ Housing Council.

Thanks to the other 50+ Housing Councils who participated on National Membership Day – Metro Denver 50+ Housing Council, Greater Atlanta 50+ Housing Council, PennDel 50+ Housing Council, Ohio 50+ Housing Council and the HBA of St. Louis and Eastern Missouri 50+ Housing Council.
