Women Aren't LikeTheir Mothers When It Comes to Retirement

Daughters aren't like their mothers when it comes to how they plan to spend their retirement, according to "It's Not Your Mother's Retirement: The MetLife Study of Women and Generational Differences."

The study by the MetLife Mature Market Institute revealed that the younger generations of women will have a more active retirement with varied pursuits, including travel, social interaction and extended worklife. However, the survey noted that daughters will enter retirement with higher levels of consumer debt than their mothers and will have to make financial adjustments when they retire.

Read the press release and the complete study for more details. Also, check out MetLife's other research, including the Demographic Profile of Pre-Retirees, Demographic Profile of American Baby Boomers and Demographic Profile of the 65+ Population.
