Focus Group Initiates First Phase of 50+ Market Index Research

NAHB has begun the process of including questions specific to 50+ Housing on its highly-regarded monthly Housing Market Index survey. The first step — determining which questions to ask 50+ builders — began this week with a focus group of local builders of both age-restricted 55+ housing and active adult housing.

Issues relating to starts, closes, consumer confidence, building costs, and active adult rentals vs. for-sale properies were discussed, while assessing the best information to include in the survey.

A different focus group will convene for a similar meeting during the Fall Board of Directors Meeting next week in San Diego.
