BUILD-PAC UPDATE: Help Keep NAHB's Political Action on the Forefront

BUILD-PAC, NAHB’s political action committee, raised a record $4.2 million during the last election cycle and has set an ambitious $5 million goal for the 2008 election cycle.

“BUILD-PAC’s mission is to help elect pro-housing candidates to Congress,” said 50+ Housing Council Chair Jo Theunissen. “Regardless of political party, our job is to elect federal lawmakers who are committed to make housing issues a national priority.”

In the last election cycle, BUILD-PAC was ranked the third largest distributor of PAC money to candidates, totaling more than $3.2 million BUILD-PAC dollars. BUILD-PAC-supported candidates won 341 out of 378 races for the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, for a success rate of 90%.

"The political environment in which we operate today is more demanding and volatile than ever before. I believe recovery will occur only when Congress and our nation's regulators understand the necessity of their participation in finding a solution," said Theunissen.

“It is of the utmost importance that everyone in our industry becomes more actively involved with BUILD-PAC. It is the most effective tool NAHB’s advocacy group has to ensure our voices are heard throughout the halls of Congress.”
