See the Best in 50+ Housing Design and Marketing at the Symposium

Make your plans to attend the 2009 Best of 50+ Housing Awards Gala during NAHB’s 2009 Building for Boomers & Beyond: 50+ Housing SymposiumSM in Philadelphia. Gold award winners will be unveiled at the evening event on Tuesday, April 28, at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown.

Presented by the NAHB 50+ Housing Council, the Best of 50+ Housing Awards is the premier design and marketing competition for the 50+ housing industry.

A total of 80 finalists were named in 35 categories representing active adult housing, service-enriched housing and marketing. The Gold award winners will be unveiled at the gala, while all other finalists will receive a Silver award.

In addition, several projects will be recognized for their innovation, and the NAHB 50+ Housing

Westminster Village, Scottsdale, Ariz., finalist in the category of  Best Repositioned  50+ Housing. The developer is  Perkins Eastman.

Council will honor the Icons of the  Industry — individuals who have contributed to the 50+ housing industry through their leadership.

The Best of 50+ Housing Awards finalists were selected by an esteemed panel of judges from all segments of the 50+ housing industry. Judges focused on entries that attempted to re-invent the standard approach to 50+ housing and implement future-oriented, creative ideas. Among the entries, judges noted highlights such as the developers’ creativity in the re-use of existing structures and the use of outside-the-box mechanisms to finance development.

“We were extremely impressed with work we saw from this year’s finalists,” said Pat Kelley, 2009 chair of the 50+ Housing Council and a home builder from St. Louis. “It’s clear that top designers, developers and marketers of the 50+ housing industry are identifying what boomers are looking for, and providing it in a thoughtful, well-built package.”

In addition to the gala, visual presentations of all the finalists’ entries will be on display during the Symposium. To see the list of the 2009 Best of 50+ Housing Awards finalists, view this page.
