[return to top] Seniors Housing Council publishes new infrastructure studiesthat are useful to builders and developers in dealing with land-use planning authorities on zoning issues and getting their seniors housing projects approved. Conducted by NAHB’s Economics Group, the three studies contain valuable research that confirms that senior residents do not increase the cost of providing public services or cause road congestion – a common misperception among no-growth advocates. Among the topics covered are seniors housing and demand for water and sewer services, demand for public education, and planning for road improvements. Additional studies will be published in the future, including the cost of providing public safety courses, parking standards, demand for public parks and libraries, and local economic benefit of an active adult project. IBS registrants who attend a Seniors Housing Council-sponsored education session will receive a coupon to receive all three studies for free in the Seniors Housing Council Hospitality Suite, N217 - Level 2 in the Las Vegas Convention Center.
