Bell Named to Helm of 50+ Housing Council, New Leadership Team Announced

  • Bell Named to Helm of 50+ Housing Council

The National Association of Home Builders recently appointed Sharon Dworkin Bell as Senior Staff Vice President for NAHB Multifamily and 50+ Housing. Bell’s primary responsibility is policy and advocacy issues, and she has direct oversight for both groups’ programs, products and services.

Bell joined NAHB Multifamily six years ago and has played a pivotal role in building the group’s visibility and influence within NAHB and the industry as a whole. She plans to raise the profile of the 50+ Housing Council, whose numbers have grown significantly over the past five years.

Bell’s promotion is part of a departmental reorganization announced by Jerry Howard, NAHB’s Chief Executive Officer, in December. The groups were paired because they share similar priorities and programs. The staffs of NAHB Multifamily and the 50+ Housing Council were consolidated into one department to streamline resources, although both areas will continue to maintain their own separate identities.

The rest of the staff and their respective 50+ Housing Council responsibilities are as follows:

  • Laura Zaner – Oversight of all Council activities, including marketing
  • Jeff Jenkins – Member services
  • Carmel McGuire – Policy and advocacy issues
  • Lawrence McFadden – Membership and marketing
  • Ann Marie Moriarty – Industry relations, communications and 50+ Housing Magazine
  • Janice Coyle – Education activities, including the Building for Boomers & Beyond: 50+ Housing Symposium, Certified Active Adult Specialist in Housing (CAASH) designation and convention education
  • Sheronda Carr – Recognition programs, including The Best of 50+ Housing Awards
  • Erin Grant – 50+ Housing e/Source newsletter and the Council's Web site.
  • Lynn Basso – Budgeting and program support
  • Patty Vuylsteke – Program support and member relations
