Just-Revised Requirements Make CAASH Easier to Complete

If earning NAHB's CAASH designation is on your to-do list, things just got easier. The 50+ Housing Council's Board of Trustees voted at its Spring meeting to remove the requirement that candidates have 50 elective credits. To earn the Certified Active Adult Specialist in Housing (CAASH) designation, candidates must successfully complete the three required courses, have a minimum of three years experience in the 50+ housing field, and adhere to the CAASH Code of Ethics. The continuing education requirements remain in place.

The Board plans to designate a higher level of certification for those who have completed the previously required 50 elective credits.

Individuals who have completed the three required courses may choose one of the following options in order to complete the graduation process:

1.  Send in an application now to become a CAASH. NAHB members who send in graduation applications by June 30, 2010, for evaluation under the new requirements will pay a reduced graduation fee of just $95.

2. Finish the Professional Profile demonstrating evidence of 50 elective credits, and send it with the application by December 31, 2009 to be reviewed under the previous requirements.

The CAASH designation gives housing professionals serving this rapidly burgeoning market the essential knowledge, tools and skills that will help them succeed—from conducting initial research to design considerations and features to closing the sale and servicing the customer. CAASH designees are listed in the online NAHB Professional Designations Directory.
