Editor... In this issue: Looking for Financing?NAHB has created the Partnership Pavilion in which builders and funding sources can meet and discuss possibilities at next week's Intenational Builders' Show in Las Vegas. Log in to www.nahb.org and sign up now. Here's the full story, as it appeared in Nation's Building News: At the innovative Partnership Pavilion located in Hall N-4 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, NAHB members attending the IBS will have the opportunity to meet individually with a variety of capital sources and financing advisors to explore financing solutions for their projects through debt and equity positions, joint ventures and partnerships and traditional sources of housing credit. Participants are also being invited to attend a new session at IBS — “Obtaining Financing in Today’s Real Estate Marketplace: What Builders and Developers Need to Know and Do.” Leading the session, real estate financing experts will provide practical advice for builders and developers to improve their prospects for obtaining project financing and negotiating the best deal. The program will cover the information builders need to provide, the terms they can expect and pitfalls to avoid. A variety of possible financing options will be discussed, with a focus on private equity. The panelists will address funding for new ventures as well as refinancing for projects already underway. The program will be conducted as a workshop, with extensive time devoted to answering questions from builders and developers in the audience. The session will be moderated by Steve Lawson, president of The Lawson Companies, and include John Bonner, president, First Continental Investment Co.; Peter Hazeloop, managing director, Michael P. Kahn & Associates; and Rand Roan, principal, Apogee Partners. It is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 21, at 9:00 a.m. in room North 246 of the convention center.
